Symbolic Tattoos

One antagonist and cult member Reggie Ledoux, has multiple tattoos, which may have symbolic meanings. Several of his tattoos are hate symbols or related to the devil (the swastika and the pentagram with the devil's face on his back, for example). One of the more interesting tattoos is the cherub’s face on his chest. There is debate online over who this tattoo is. Some fans believe that this tattoo was drawn to resemble Matthew McConaughey (who plays Rust Cohle). Other viewers may see this tattoo as Jesus, an angel, or Lucifer (as he was the first fallen angel). This tattoo can tie in religious symbolism as it connects Reggie to the main “pop” religion (Christianity) that is in Louisiana (14, 15), although viewers do not know if he is part of the Church.
